The Famous Grouse
On a sunny Monday evening, 32 pairs tee'd off in The Famous Grouse competition played in a foursomes format. The course was perfectly set up by John Wells and win or lose, members could look forward to a refreshing beverage after the event together with the chef's infamous chicken curry.
A range of scores were returned at the end of the rounds, but the eventual winners were Clive Evans and David Owen who were 8 over par gross, finishing with a net 67.5. This was closely followed by runners-up Conrad Mazen and John North with 7 over par and a net 68.5.
Whilst Clive and David's score was impressive, it should be noted that it also included an out-of-bounds on the 16th which was incredibly recovered by David with a provisional ball, setting up Clive with a long putt, resulting in a 5. An exceptional recovery!
Well done and thank you too all the members that participated and made this another great and successful event for South Herts Golf Club.
