Scratch Team Secure Promotion to Division 1!!

Another excellent team performance has secured us our return to the elite with one game to spare. In our best ever ICSL season we have now won 7 out of our 9 games with a 100% home record as well as achieving two vital wins on the road.
We went into Sunday's game needing a win to overtake Northwood's points total and gain us promotion to the top league and with a potentially tricky final game at the Buckinghamshire to come it was important we achieved the win on Sunday.
If ever a scoreline does not tell the full story Sunday's game proved the point........early on Tim, Adam and Charlie were all well down so things weren't looking good for us. However a great effort to turn their games around ensued. A burst of late birdies completely turned Charlie's match around and put him dormie one up but a birdie on 18th from his opponent meant a halved match but a still very nice turnaround against an England under 18 player to gain a half from being well down....the postman always delivers ! By then Liam, Scott and Bob given us a huge boost by closing out comprehensive 7 and 6 victories with Liam winning for the 6 time in 7 matches this season - our postman who always delivers at the back of the order ! Shortly after Tim then completed a similarly impressive turnaround with a clinical last hole chip in to close his match out one up. Adam also came back strongly chipping away at an early deficit ultimately winning 2 and 1 aided by his brother on the bag for the back nine ! Geoff's 5 and 4 victory meant that in the end we didn't lose a match with team spirit pulling us through from a situation looked far from promising early on.
This victory leaves us second, currently on 16 points and with all the other teams having finished their games we are guaranteed promotion but with Mill Ride on 19 points it would be great to go to the Buckinghamshire on Saturday 10th November with a strong team and get the win which would make us champions!

Well done to the whole squad on a fantastic season and for their commitment to the team throughout the year and especially for the big effort in the really busy periods of fixtures we've have to end our season.
