Captain's Charity Day!

Captain's Charity Day took place this year on Saturday 25th August. The day began with a shotgun start at 8:30am with 72 of our members, a mix of men and ladies, playing in teams of 4 with the best 2 stableford scores from 4 contributing to the team's overall score.

All the teams came in at a similar time and some incredibly high scores were submitted. The overall winners of the morning session were Robert Buckholt, David Ronis, Pierre Van Weperen and Kwak Wan with a score of 99 points! The team in second place for the morning were Gerry Woodham, John Dixon, David Friend and Trevor Gibson who finished on 97 points.

Other prizes for the morning round included Rebecca Hatjiosif winning the prize for Nearest the Pin on the 14th hole, while Khalid Javed won the Longest Drive competition on the 16th.

The afternoon session ran in the same format as the morning with another 72 players taking to the tees at 1:30pm. At times it looked like it could be a very wet afternoon with some dark clouds lurking, but luckily it remained pretty dry!

A second prize-giving took place at around 6pm. The winners of the afternoon round were Colin Hardman, Ed Clark, Adam Clark and Marcus Holman who won on countback with a score of 90 points. The runners-up were Zena Carrick, Susan Knudsen, Lynne Owen and Francesca North. Tony Wolff won the award for Nearest the Pin and Billy Allan won Longest Drive.

Around 90 people attended the evening entertainment which began at 7:30 with a delicious BBQ followed by a choice of tasty desserts.

The evening was broken up with some very energetic traditional African Dancers who gave us a great flavour of their African culture.

We also had a raffle and an auction taking place with some great prizes on offer. Money was raised for the Captain's chosen Charity, Shooting Star children's hospice.

The evening was rounded off with singer, Nicky Louise, getting the members on their feet performing classics some 70's and 80's favourites.

The whole day was a great success. Thank you to everyone that supported the event, we hope you all enjoyed the day.
