Home of the Vardon Grip
Founded in 1899 the Club is steeped in golfing history. Two of Britain's greatest golfers have been the Club Professional. Record 'Open' winner Harry Vardon was professional from 1902 to his death in 1937, and Ryder Cup legend, Dai Rees was with the Club from 1946 until his death in 1983.
As a leading member’s club in North London and Hertfordshire, South Herts is blessed with two superb courses: the 18-hole Vardon Course @ 6435 yards and the 9-hole Par 3 Rees Course @ 1489 yards. Extending across 150 acres of rural parkland South Herts is just over 10 miles from Central London, has easy access to the A1 and M25, and is within walking distance of Totteridge and Whetstone Underground station. Hosts of The Open Regional Qualifying on 14 occasions
We continually strive to improve playability and in 2018 bunker mist-sprays were installed to supplement our green and full fairway watering and drainage systems. The Club also boasts a 200-yard practice range with enclosed bays for wet weather practice, two putting greens, a short game area and driving nets – everything to meet the needs of the demanding golfer.
Our operational policy, as a financially sound members club, is to be forward thinking and continue to invest in the course, practice areas, on-course catering and Clubhouse facilities.
Playing and Social
The Club runs successful men’s ladies, junior and mixed Club teams playing league, knockout and friendly matches. Off the course, a full social calendar, two bars, snooker tables, wide screen tv’s ensure our members are fully provided for.
