South Herts Golf Club celebrated it's 125 anniversary during the 2024 golf season.
A unique club logo (see opposite) was created to mark the occasion.
The club held two golf events to acknowledge this landmark year.
The club hosted a members stableford open to all ordinary members of the golf club, all entrants paid a £1.25 entry fee. With winners Sandra Fagan and Prajesh Kotecha receiving an invite to the Hertfordshire Golf Centenary Tournament which has held during the same year.
South Herts Golf Club were delighted to mark the start of our 125 anniversary celebrations with the presentation of BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award from 1957.
The club was very pleased that Club Captain Nicki Harris was able to present Dai Rees' daughter, Gill Williams, with the trophy.
Dai Rees was the Club Professional at South Herts for 37 years, starting his tenure in 1946. Dai's Sports Personality win in 1957 followed his captaincy of the victorious Great Britain Ryder Cup team at Lindrick earlier that same year.
To this day, Dai Rees remains one of only two golfers to win the award.
In 2013, Dai's daughter Gill Williams was elected Club Captain, the first lady to occupy this position in the Club's long history - and it was fitting that the second lady to Captain the club was able to make this unique presentation earlier this month.
