Currently South Herts Golf Club is closed, due to the national lockdown. The Club will update this page once we have re-open.
Please adhere to any signage and one-way systems set up in the clubhouse and the pro shop). This will be clearly marked along with multiple sanitising stations, NHS Trace & Trace QR code points. The entrance to the Clubhouse is from the main entrance situated adjacent the members car park.
Our use of the property, and those that can use it will be In line with Government guidelines, and please seek guidance from the Club’s office before travelling.
If you have made a prior booking, please contact the office (020 8445 2035) and a full refund will be given.
Face coverings must be worn in all indoor areas (including locker rooms/toilets and Pro shop).
Please report to the Pro shop to check in before play, the shop is open as normal but please observe social distancing rules at all times. Face coverings must be worn in the pro shop and sanitising areas are available at easy access points. We also respectfully ask that, should you wish to try on or handle any merchandise, you check with the shop staff first. Bobby Mitchell and Michael Cutmore are the Club’s Professionals and will be happy to help you out.
Vardon Course (18 holes)
Men’s handicap limit – 28 - Ladies Handicap Limit – 36 (Handicap Certificates are required) -access to the to the first tee is via the pathway between the putting green and the 1st tee area. You will exit the course directly behind the clubhouse Please note that we have a marquee and outdoor seating around this area. There are no social gatherings of more than 6 persons permitted. Please do not congregate in groups larger than this. Furniture has been arranged to suit groups of 3 or 4 persons and we ask politely that you refrain from moving furniture to suit larger groups.
Rees Course (9 holes)
No handicap limit - entrance to the first tee on The Rees Course is by the pathway to the side of the Professional’s Shop.
Our practice range is open, range balls can be purchased from the pro shop. Both practice putting greens, Short game area and Golf nets are fully open, but please respect other players space, observering 2 meters distance at all time, and use the Sanitising stations provided around the property.
At all times (before, during and after practice or play) you should maintain Social Distancing in line with government guidelines, not approaching within 2 metres of anyone else, or touching anything which may have been recently touched by someone else. We have numerous hand sanitising stations around the inside and outside of the building, please use these as frequently as possible.
Above all, the significant risk from contamination is hand to mouth, therefore the more often you wash your hands with soap the lesser the risk, or if soap is not possible, hand gel is the next best thing.
On the course
Do not pick up a "found" ball; it may not have been there long enough for the virus to die.
Bunker rakes have been removed. Bunkers will, however, still be in play, please repair your own footprints and
divots using your feet or a club. Ball washers have been removed or wrapped to prevent use. The bell on 17th hole – should not be touched by hand but with the club head only. Red stakes and tee markers – immovable objects. All benches are out of use and hand-rails should only be used if needing aid – they will not be sanitised, so please remember this.
The on-course toilets are available.
On the green, please do not touch the flag – they must be left in the hole at all times. Cups will be up turned so that a ball will not drop below ground level.
Rubbish bins have been removed. You are asked to take your rubbish home with you and dispose of it there.
The clubhouse is open from 07:00am (Unless closed due to restrictions). We have a marquee near to the main Terrace of the Clubhouse for outdoor seating. Please ensure that you follow the one way system clearly marked around the Clubhouse and outdoor areas.
Table service is offered – please wait to be seated and orders will be taken from your table.
Facilities and Dress Code
Golfers and guests are required to be dressed neatly and appropriately. Please arrive dressed for golf and change your shoes in the carpark (When the clubhouse is closed under restrictions). The changing rooms will be open but for access to the lockers only and toilets facilities between 7.30am-5.00pm and will be cleaned and sanitised throughout the day .
The Secretary, Committee and the Staff will distinguish between attire that is acceptable or otherwise and reserve the right to ask those not conforming to vacate the Course.
Examples of inappropriate dress are - football shirts, T-shirts, beach shorts, cargo shorts and trousers, denim jeans, track suits, flip flops/sliders.
On the Course, smart golfing attire must be worn. Shirts with a collar, tailored shorts and short sports socks are permitted. Training/sports shoes and cargo style trousers are not permitted.
Trolleys, Buggies and Caddies
Trolleys: We have Electric Trolleys available for hire, please book in advance with the Pro Shop.
Buggies: Please review our buggy policy, clearly shown on our website. All of the above will be sanitised between each use by a member of our team.
Caddies: Can be arranged on request, please allow 48 hours notice.
Replace all pitch marks and repair divots
