Green keepers (Seasonal)

The South Herts Golf Club is looking to recruit two temporary members of green keeping staff for seasonal work until October 2018.

We are seeking to hear from any highly motivated individuals which enjoy working within a team enviornment to maintain the golf courses to a high standard of presentation and playability; communicating course information to the relevant persons as required.

This role will also be required to maintain health and safety working practices, whilst taking other members of staff and guests into consideration.

What will I be doing?

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • To assist in ensuring the course is properly laid out and prepared for members and guests to the Club and that a very high standard of presentation of the golf course is maintained.
  • Work with Trainee Green keepers, Assistant Green keepers, Green keepers, Deputy Course Manager and Course Manager.
  • To assist in the turf maintenance including mowing, irrigating and control of pests and disease on the greens. To assist in the maintenance of bunkers course furniture and holes. In conjunction with the Course Manager, gain knowledge of the plant machinery used for your specific tasks
  • Ensure you are only using machinery you have been properly trained on, in the correct manner and comply with Health & Safety regulations whilst in operation.
  • To attend training courses which are identified as being necessary for the performance of the position.
  • To be fully conversant with the South Herts Employee Handbook and supporting
  • Policies, including Health & Safety legislation, personal presentation and fire and emergency procedures.
  • To comply with any reasonable instruction issued by your Manager.

Digital & Social Media Coordinator (Part-time)

Job Description

The South Herts Golf Club is looking to recruit a permanent part-time Digital & Social Media Coordinator to join its Office team.

This newly created part-time position will play a pivotal role in developing South Herts digital profile as the Club seeks to expand its online engagement across a variety of social media, complementing existing communication channels and working collaboratively with all areas of the Club and governing bodies.

What will I be doing?

  • Reporting to the Secretary your responsibilities of the role will include, but not be limited to:
  • Helping to establish and manage South Herts social media profile, and leading engagement with the Club’s online community
  • Planning, creating and publishing a variety of digital content including photography and video
  • Assisting in the creation and delivery of strategic communications to the Club’s membership, staff and marketing committee.
  • Regular reporting on social media performance and developing new engagement strategies based on social trends and audience analysis
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with South Herts staff to ensure content is timely, accurate, and adheres to South Herts best practice principles
  • Collaborating on and supporting communications initiatives from across all departments at the Club

What does the Club need from me?

  •  Social and digital media experience, preferably in a sporting or hospitality environment
  • Excellent written, organisational and interpersonal skills with great attention to detail
  • Understanding of, and experience working with, organisational branding and style
  • Technical skill in using the Adobe Suite, primarily InDesign and Photoshop
  • Skills in DSLR photography and photo editing
  • Exceptional time management and flexible working
  • Experience working with, or producing, video content (desirable)
  • Website content management experience (desirable)

Course Starters/ Marshalls

Department: Golf

Report to: Head Golf Professional

Job Description

This newly created position, working on seasonal basis March - October to cover the main golfing events and visiting groups.

The role would suit someone with flexibility and is a non-paid role, in return you will receive access to the Vardon course.

What will I be doing?

  • Providing a warm welcome to the club with guidance for visitors as to the whereabouts of coffee etc on arrival, the locker rooms and daily codes, scorecards, and directions to the course facilities.
  • Locate visitors to the necessary car park, bag drop and cross-reference appropriate dress to access the Clubhouse and Course.
  • Setting up “Nearest the Pin” and “Longest Drive” equipment if and when required.
  • Bringing personality to the role so as to improve the visitor’s experience, acting as an ambassador for the club, providing exceptional service and behaviour.
  • Using tact and diplomacy, ensuring that enforcement is viewed as assistance rather than criticism, punishment or restriction (Being the person every player is happy to see)
  • Endeavour to exceed player expectations helping locate lost golf balls, rake bunkers and offering to help groups who are struggling to keep up.
  • Monitoring pace of play, etiquette and course car.
  • Ensuring player safety at all times.
  • Providing extra eyes and ears for the security of the course.
