Harry Vardon Cup & Dai Rees Bowl 2017

On Saturday, 1st July the clubs Annual Harry Vardon Cup & Dai Rees Bowl was played over 36 holes on the Vardon course. We welcomed players from Hertfordshire, Essex and Hampshire on a dry, but windy day were the course had been prepared for a good test of golf by our course manager who reported green speeds of 11.5 on the stimp meter.

Well done to all our competitors, some fantastic morning scores set the sene for a very interesting afternoon round in both scratch and handicap categories, Gyu Lee from Mill Hill Golf Club clinched the Dai Rees Bowl (scratch) by one shot from SHGC member Charlie Rudge. In the Harry Vardon Cup it was even closer with Thomas Sillitoe from Burstead Golf Club who piped Nick Martin SHGC member on countback.
